In the core of the series, Osman Bey is learning how to be a leader while constantly battling the Byzantines and internal enemies. The action rises to such a pitch when Osman gathers his military council of war to decide on how to deal with emerging threats. These discussions show the complex power relations within the tribe, everybody’s switch-blade is his loyalty and every action might change the outcome for the new state. In the midst of this, a daring and rather risky rescue operation is carried out to save those that have been taken by the Byzantines and this not only displays Osman’s military genius and the determination of his followers.
Based on this structure, a new order is further suggested as the story progresses, as Osman starts planning to create what he wants to be a new nation. Relatively and comparatively, this period is indeed a fresh start and a general outlook of optimism, Osman fortifying his reign and forging alliances. But these moments of optimism are immediately followed by new threats from old foes and new ones as well. Osman gets an assassin to take a shot on him, and this results in a curious investigation that reveals the level of betrayal within the ranks of Osman. The fact that there is a traitor hurts the very foundation of Osman’s power, as he reviews the people close to him as to whether they are truly to be trusted.
The climax of this arc is a trial that works on Osman’s leadership and on the solidarity of the tribe. So the trial is not only the fight against the injustice, but the vital stage that defines the further history of the searching. When the ties are broken and the risks are escalating, the character of Osman lays on the real examination. This trial concludes determines the future of the series and reveals the idea of continuous power fight and war which is a main theme of Osman’s way.
